Authorities investigating fatal crash in Johnston County

CLAYTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- One person was killed in a crash on Covered Bridge Road near Clayton on Friday night.

North Carolina Highway Patrol said a man driving a Dodge truck attempted to pass a car in the eastbound lane before slamming into a tree.

The man died but his name has not yet been released.

No one else was hurt.
