WILMINGTON, North Carolina (WTVD) -- On Saturday, the North Carolina Coast Guard suspended the search for two men that went missing last Sunday.
Steve Chaney and David Hambrick of Oak Island were reported missing when they did not return from a fishing trip.
The Coast Guard said that the two men had left around 11:30 a.m. from the South Harbor Boat Ramp with their fishing gear.
Days later the men's capsized boat was discovered.
"After an exhaustive search on the water and from the air over the past week, we made the difficult decision to stop searching on Saturday evening," said Rear Adm. Meredith Austin, commander, 5th Coast Guard District. "We have been in close contact with the families, and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time," said Coast Guard officials in a statement.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Steve Chaney or David Hambrick is asked to contact Coast Guard Sector North Carolina at (910) 343-3880.
