FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Cumberland County District Attorney Billy West said Monday that the case against a soldier who brought a gun to Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville last year has been dismissed.
Bryan Wolfinger was charged with "going to the terror of the public" in July, 2015 when he carried an AR-15 and accessories into a photo shoot on an outside wing of the mall.
West said a Monday that a follow-up investigation showed both Wolfinger and an employee at the photo studio requested permission in advance for Wolfinger to bring the gun and it was granted by mall management.
There was also no sign on the door of the business saying guns were not allowed.
West said Wolfinger only carried the gun back and forth to his car and there is no evidence he threatened anyone with it.
