EASTOVER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Cumberland County Sheriff's deputies are investigating after two people were fatally shot in an apparent robbery Sunday.
Authorities said just before 3:20 a.m., they received a 911 call about a robbery in the 2500 block of Culbreth Drive in Eastover.
The caller, Travis Melvin, said he and his girlfriend, Sade Robinson, were entering their home when they were approached by two men dressed in all black.
According to authorities, Melvin pulled out the gun he was carrying and shots were fired. Robinson was struck during the shooting and was later pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Hospital.
Deputies later found one of the robbery suspects a short distance away lying on the ground. He too suffered a gunshot wound during the shoot out, officials said.
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Brandon Bernard Bowman of Fayetteville, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing as detectives try and identify the second suspect who fled from the scene before deputies arrived.
