Warrant says suspect in Cary nurse shooting confessed
Suspect in the murder of Wendy Johnson in Cary Friday night told detectives he shot her during an attempt to steal her purse - woman charged as accessory Wednesday.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Search warrants released Wednesday reveal the suspect in the shooting death of a nurse in Cary Friday night told detectives he shot her during an attempt to steal her purse and led detectives to the murder weapon.

Daniel Remington, 36, is awaiting trial in the murder of 58-year-old Wendy Johnson. The shooting happened at the Hyde Park Court Apartments Friday around 11 p.m.

Search warrants filed in the case say Remington admitted in an interview with detectives that he approached Johnson as she got out of her vehicle and she tried to keep him from taking her purse before he shot her.

The warrants say Remington also led detectives to the revolver he used.

Also Wednesday, police charged Jessica Renee Parrisher with accessory after the fact in Johnston's murder.

According to court documents, she lied to police after the shooting. Investigators have not disclosed the nature of her relationship with Remington.

Her bond was set at $100,000.

Johnson was a nurse to a special needs child by night. By day, she cared for her grandchildren as well as her own special needs son.

Tuesday, Remington was also charged with assaulting an inmate in a Wake County detention facility after his arrest in the Johnson case.

Remington remains in jail without bond. ABC11 has learned he has a long rap sheet that includes mostly breaking and entering charges, although he was convicted 15 years ago of assault on a female and assault by pointing a gun.
