Downtown Apex businesses evacuated after bomb threat, police investigating

APEX, N.C. (WTVD) -- Parts of downtown Apex have re-opened after a bomb threat made to the town's communication center prompted multiple evacuations Saturday afternoon.

Witness photos showed armed police officers standing on the rooftops of nearby buildings.

Police cleared the Salem Street-area shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Authorities are working to identify who made the threat.
