Police: Durham woman shot dead in targeted attack
DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham Police are searching for suspects after a 37-year-old woman was shot and killed in broad daylight Monday, just blocks away from the center of downtown Durham.

The Durham Police Department said the shooting of Latonya Denise Morris is likely not random, and is investigating the case as a homicide.
Authorities said suspects in a blue Lincoln Navigator shot Morris near the corner of East Main and Elm Streets about 1 p.m. and that Morris died after being taken to the hospital.
Now, a growing memorial marks the tragic spot, feet in front of another memorial, for a different fatal shooting that happened almost exactly a year ago.
One woman, visiting the memorial, tells ABC11 that Morris was her friend.
She said she suspects Morris died after a drug deal gone bad, but that Morris was kind and would keep to herself, and that no one deserves to die like this.
"Quiet lady, never bothered anyone," The woman, who did not wish to be identified, said. "It hurts my heart for them to just kill her like that. For what? You know, you know? This drug game is serious you understand? I just ... why? Why? She didn't deserve that."
