DURHAM (WTVD) -- A man sitting on a front porch was gunned down in Durham on Sunday evening.
Police said it happened around 5:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Duke Street near Markham Avenue.
Durham police found the victim, 34-year-old Warren Grace, in a chair on the porch. Police later said that Grace did not live there.
Neighbors were shocked to hear the news, according to our crew on the scene. Residents said shootings are not typical for that area of Durham.
"It's a relatively quiet neighborhood and these type of things haven't happened although we hear hear gunshots from time to time but they usually sound more distant," said neighbor Greg Appelbaum.
This is the sixth shooting in Durham reported in five days, and the second fatal.
Authorities said the car sped off after opening fire. Police are working to track down the suspect or suspects.
Duke Street was closed while police investigated, and traffic was rerouted.
It is not yet known if anyone else was home at the time of the shooting.
