DURHAM (WTVD) -- It's been a busy four months for the Durham Police Department.
A week after naming a new police chief, the city is set to release what's expected to be some disappointing crime statistics.
Incoming Chief Cerelyn Davis takes command on June 6th, but she's already in town house hunting.
She is also speaking to the media Monday, ahead the community hearing details about the crime challenges faced by Durham's police officers.
The city council is receiving the latest crime report during a meeting Monday evening.
The interim police chief says officers need help from the community as they work to bring down rising numbers for robberies.
Recent violent crimes, especially shootings - some fatal - also have people in Durham demanding action.

Police have linked some of those crimes to drug activity.
Now concerned Bull City citizens hope the new chief's leadership and enforcement ideas can drive those numbers down.
"I think she's going to bring a tremendous amount of passion to public service, a lot of energy around community exchange," said Durham City Manager Thomas Bonfield. "I think she's going to be a pretty tireless leader...not just for the first couple of weeks she's on the job but for a long time."
