Woman shot in face near Durham middle school

DURHAM, NC (WTVD) -- A woman was shot in the jaw near Pearson Middle School in Durham on Monday afternoon.

Durham Police said it happened on East Umstead Street near the school, which is under renovation.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to her jaw, police said. Her condition was not immediately known.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
