Man charged in Durham fatal stabbing
Police said the stabbing appeared to be the result of an argument.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- The Durham Police Department has charged a man with murder in a fatal stabbing Monday morning.



It happened just after midnight near the intersection of East Pettigrew Street and Colfax Street.



Officers found 37-year-old Austin Barnes of Graham dead at the scene. His brother, 39-year-old David Barnes of Durham, had also been stabbed. He drove himself to the hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.



Investigators arrested 43-year-old Jeffrey Morton of Durham and charged him with murder and aggravated assault. He was being held without bond in the Durham County Jail.



Police said the stabbing appeared to be the result of an argument.
