Vandals shoot out dozens of car windows
Authorities in Durham are investigating at least 30 acts of vandalism after someone shot out car windows with a BB gun

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Authorities are investigating several acts of vandalism after someone went on a rampage in a south Durham neighborhood this week.

Kammie Michael, the Public Information Officer at Durham Police Department, told ABC11 that they have received at least 30 reports between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings about vehicles being damaged by what appeared to be BB guns.

Residents living in the Woodlake subdivision along Tahoe Drive said they awoke to find that their car windows had been shot out.

"The neighbor on this corner and the neighbor on this corner both had it done to them," resident Zach Wait said. "You know, I've got to make it to work sometime today! If it rains, what'll I do with the back window? I'll have to patch it up."

He said the officer investigating the incident told him that over 20 incidents in the Parkwood area were reported Tuesday.

Michael said residents near Falls Pointe Drive, Glen Falls Lane, Angier Avenue, Residence Inn Boulevard, Huntsman Drive, Glenco Road, McCormick Road, Appling Way, Gregson Street, Tremont Drive, Tumeric Lane, , Ontario Court, Gable Ridge Drive, Windcrest Drive and Crooked Creek Parkway all called police after discovering their vehicles' windows shattered.

No injuries have been reported, however, it has left some homeowners shaken.

"They feel violated," said Maggie Dolbow, who's very ill neighbor was victimized, which frightened his teenaged daughter. "I think just adds more anxiety to the people who live in the neighborhood. And 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. in the morning? I don't know. What's the point? What do they get out of it?"

Residents say they just want the people responsible for the damage off the streets.

"We're people, we're hurting. Stop. Stop, while you can. Stop, 'cause I don't want them to come to a tragic end

No charges have been filed at this time. Police have not released any details about the alleged suspect or suspects.
