CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- Fellow officers came together to surprise the son of a fallen Durham Police Officer at his high school graduation in Chapel Hill on Thursday.
Charles Callemyn died in a 2007 traffic accident while rushing to provide backup to a fellow officer.
Officer Callemyn's son was surprised with a massive police escort to his Cedar Ridge graduation. Local law enforcement and the Blue Knights wanted to make sure Joshua knew how loved his father was and that he is not alone during this major milestone.
Patrol cars and motorcycles lined Skipper Bowles Drive, which is the street leading to the Dean Smith Center, where his graduation was held.
"I am forever grateful at the support and how this came together," Stan Newsome, a Chapel Hill Police Officer and one of the many who helped organize this event.
Joshua plans to work full-time after graduation while attending Alamance Community College.
