Man arrested in 1996 Fayetteville cold case murder

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WTVD) -- The Fayetteville Police Department has arrested a man it says is responsible for the 1996 murder of Mark Blackmon. Johnny Frank Bell Jr., 36, turned himself in Tuesday.

Bell is charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. The crime reportedly happened on Oct. 15, 1996, in the 200 block of Colonial Avenue.

Blackmon was shot to death, police said.

Bell is being held without bond.
