FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- The long-awaited, state-of-the-art Fayetteville VA hospital is set to open Tuesday, officials said.

Crews have been transitioning clinics from the Ramsey street location to the new Raeford Road Health Care Center since Friday, said Jeff Melvin, a spokesman for the FVAMC.

Melvin said the new hospital is open to patients on Tuesday.

The HCC is expected to improve outpatient care for up to 38,000 veterans and family members.

Officials said primary care, specialty care, pharmacy, radiology, audiology and day surgery are among the services available at the new facility.

The healthcare center will also have an eye clinic, diagnostic services and ancillary. Walking trails, outdoor exercise features and a Veterans Memorial and Waterway Pavilion are also featured on the site, according the FVAMC website.

Administrative offices will remain at the Ramsey Street site.
