Church gives away free gas in Sanford

SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- On a busy Memorial Day weekend, a church in Sanford gave away thousands of dollars worth of free gas.

God's Promise church organized the event which drew such a response that it caused a traffic jam. The Lee County Sheriff and Sanford police had to direct the cars.

Church members gave customers money to pay for the gas. In all, 250 cars got $10 each in free gas.
