Flooding concerns in Cumberland County
Waterlogged Sandhills braces for more rain from Hurricane Matthew.

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- As some areas are still drying out after flooding in the Sandhills, homeowners are worried about another round of problems as Hurricane Matthew continues to move north.

Residents Shaina and Cleveland Williams were dealing with a mess last week with water almost reaching the top of their carport.

Just down the road, Tabitha and Keith Davis' kitchen was ruined from the storms.

Both families live beside a stream at the bottom of a 40-foot trench that's downstream from Hope Mills Lake. When the lake flooded, the water surged into the trench, filling it and sending the overflow into nearby yards and homes.

The two couples are worried about more damage from Hurricane Matthew.

They've set up a GoFundMe to help with repairs. If you'd like to donate, check out the page here.
