ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- A crowd gathered Thursday in Rocky Mount for a vigil for three young men killed in a car wreck almost a week ago.
Rocky Mount Police said Kyol Allen, Dennis Battle, and Jason Britt were killed May 16 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a building. The car burst into flames.
All three men were preachers' kids and very active in church.
Sunday, Allen's father delivered his weekly sermon at Word Tabernacle Church despite what happened.
That strength and love held people together for the vigil.
"Rocky Mount has almost shut down during this time, to be honest with you, because we believe in family," said Allen's aunt, Celestine Williams. "When one hurts, everybody hurts. When one cries, everybody cries. When one rejoices, everybody rejoices. This is our time to cry and rejoice."
Funeral services for Allen will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Word Tabernacle Church in Rocky Mount.
Funeral services for Battle and Britt will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Morning Star Church of Christ.
Rocky Mount police say the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
