Police released new information about a fatal weekend wreck in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- North Carolina Highway Patrol officers released new details on Monday about a deadly weekend wreck in Lee County.

Police identified the lone survivor of that wreck as 22-year-old Tyrann Snipes, from Sanford. Officers said the accident happened just before 12:30 a.m. on Sunday on Pickard Road.

Authorities said the 1995 Chevrolet SUV traveled off the road and collided with a mailbox. The driver then overcorrected, over the center line, causing him to overcorrect again.

Authorities said the SUV then ran off the road and flipped into a utility pole.

According to officials, a Good Samaritan pulled Snipes from the wreckage just before the SUV caught on fire.

The driver and another passenger were trapped in the SUV and died as a result of the crash. Their names have not been released.
