Week 2 of Issiah Ross murder trial ends with no verdict

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The murder trial of Issiah Ross is back in session on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

The trial started on Wednesday, Jan. 14 and has moved rapidly.

Ross is charged in the deaths of Lyric Woods and Devin Clark in Orange County. He is accused of murdering the two teens in September 2022. He was 17 when he allegedly committed the crime; however, he is being tried as an adult.

He has pleaded not guilty. Ross rejected a plea bargain offer on Monday, Jan. 12.

On Wednesday, Jan. 21, Ross took the stand and testified in his own defense.

Jury requests to view victim's autopsy reports

At 11:56 a.m., Bailiff hands a note to the judge.

Jury has requested to review Lyric and Devin's autopsy reports, which will be sent to the jury room for review.

The court is in recess until about 1:10 p.m. The jury will then head back into deliberations.

Jury deliberations underway

At 10:31 a.m., jury is deliberating and will be brought back into the courtroom at 12:30 p.m.

There will be a recess.

Jury views evidence: video, photos and cellphone data to be reviewed

At 9:10 a.m., the jury was brought in to view evidence in the case.

They watched the interview video of Christian Sykes, observed footage from the gas station, and examined crime scene photos.

Ross had blond hair at the time of the gas station footage.

Additionally, they will review cell phone data, including cast report evidence, which will be provided to them during deliberations.

Court resumes Friday morning

After an hour of deliberations, the judge reviewed the jury's note and requests.

The jury was sent home for the day at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Cour resumes at 9:00 a.m. Friday.
