CLAYTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- The body of a man found earlier this month has been identified as 47-year-old Michael Dean Johnson.

On June 4, a group of teenagers fishing in a creek bed just below Amelia Village Apartments found a man's body. It's in an area just off Amelia Church Road in Clayton.

The body was examined, but the medical examiner said the cause of death could not be immediately determined. No foul play is suspected, though.

The medical examiner had requested medical records for all recent missing person cases in Johnston County and surrounding areas to help make a positive identification.

On Monday, Town of Clayton Public Information Officer Stacy Beard said the man has been identified as Johnson, who was reported missing on May 7 by his grandfather.

Johnson and his grandfather lived together in Clayton. Beard said Johnson was known to hang out near the Clayton Corners Shopping Center, near where he was found.
