BATON ROUGE, La. -- A group of women are striking down the notion you have to slow down with old age with a weekly bowling league.
The "Golden Nuggets" in Baton Rouge, La. are headed by their fearless leader, 99-year-old Mildred Bowie.
Her average score is 119.
"I started bowling really 43 years ago when my granddaughter was 3," Bowie said.
She's been bowling for three hours a week for the past few decades and she says it has kept her young.
"I play bridge three times, I have a pokeno club, I work in my church, I'm pretty busy for a 100 year old," Bowie joked.
Bowie, who still drives, also credits her longevity to her faith and her friends.
