RALEIGH (WTVD) -- There are new developments in the tragic holiday murder of Raleigh toddler Tristan Blue.

According to a search warrant and a court hearing Thursday, the boy's parents knew he was dead when they called 911 on Christmas Eve to report him missing.

The search warrant says the 2-year-old boy's father, Steven Blue, who is charged with his murder, told investigators that the boy was "unresponsive" when he was taken out of the family's southwest Raleigh apartment.

Police said the father told them he dumped the body at Falls Lake.

A prosecutor told a judge Thursday that the father made statements about smothering the boy.

The prosecutor also said the boy's mother, Briana Dangerfield, hadn't seen the boy since Dec. 22.

Dangerfield is charged with child abuse, destroying evidence, and accessory after the fact of murder.
