SELMA (WTVD) -- At least one person was killed in a wreck that closed a stretch of NC 96 in Johnston County near Selma for several hours.
It appeared that an SUV ran off the road, crashed through a fence and came to rest in a field.
The highway was closed between Holly Berry Lane and Old Beulah Road.
Authorities rerouted traffic at the scene. The stretch of highway reopened around 11:30 p.m.
There is no word yet on other injuries or exactly how many vehicles were involved.
No other details were immediately available.
The Highway Patrol is investigating.
