Significant flooding seen around Jordan Lake

NEW HILL, NC (WTVD) -- The water just keeps creeping higher and higher around Jordan Lake. Boat ramps have been closed for more than a week and now parks are closed too.

Pictures from Chopper 11 Monday showed parking lots at boat ramps and boat storage areas are underwater - along with some small out-buildings.

Officials have closed the access gates to recreation areas like New Hope Overlook and Ebenezer Church because of the high water.

Locals say the water levels are the highest they've seen in years - currently about 17 feet above "full pool."
