Fayetteville inmate now faces new sex assault charges

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A Fayetteville man being detained for a parole violation now faces additional charges in connection with two sexual assaults involving the same victim.



On Jan. 27, police were notified by a 29-year-old woman that she had been sexually assaulted by an acquaintance, Marcus Nathaniel Adams, 32, of the 3000 block of Candlelight Drive, on two different occasions in January.



The first incident occurred Jan. 3 at the victim's home, officials said and the second one on Jan. 17 at the residence of a mutual acquaintance.



Detectives obtained warrants on Adams, charging him with second-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping and attempted second-degree rape.



Adams is in the Cumberland County Detention Center on a probation violation for an unrelated offense.



He was given a bond of $250,000.00 secured on the new charges.



Adams also has outstanding warrants from Harnett County for second-degree rape and second-degree sex offense.
