HILLSBOROUGH (WTVD) -- An apparent argument in Hillsborough that simmered for several hours and boiled over into gunplay led to the arrest of four people Monday night.
About 10:40 p.m. Monday, Hillsborough police officers and Orange County deputies responded to a report of shots fired near Tulip Tree Drive and Locust Road. When officers arrived, they found a house on Harper Road had been struck by a bullet.
While officers were investigating, they heard additional gunshots and went to the area of Dixie Avenue and Wildaro Court along with Orange County deputies and Highway Patrol troopers.
Law officers found a large crowd gathered there, and numerous fights broke out.
No one was injured, but several weapons were seized.
Officers learned an argument started about 5 p.m. and escalated for several hours until shots were fired and someone called the police.
Alexander "AJ" Lipford, 19, of Danville, Va., was charged with resisting an officer and held in the Orange County Jail under a $250 secured bond.
Terrell Jamal Howell, 20, of Danville, Va., was charged with resisting an officer and communicating threats. He was held in the Orange County Jail under a $250 secured bond.
Ronnie Renee Fuller, 43, of Rougemont was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and held in the Orange County Jail under a $750 secured bond.
Nathan Neal Johnson Sr., 44 of Hillsborough was charged with discharge of a firearm within the town limits. He was released from the Orange County Jail after posting a $750 secured bond.
