Two 12-year-old boys taken into custody after teen shot, killed in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem police took two 12-year-old juveniles into custody early Monday in connection to the death of a teenager, according to a news release.



WGHP reports that because they are juveniles, no further information will be released and no other suspects are being sought.



Winston-Salem police said officers were called to a church at 432 Crews St. at about 8:47 p.m. Friday. Officers found 15-year-old Jose Angel Chegue Mendoza in an open area behind the church. Mendoza had been shot multiple times. He was taken to Baptist Medical Center where he died.



Police said the shooting was not a random act.
