North Carolina born Tupac Shakur's mother dies in California
Renowned music artist Tupac Shakur's mother has passed away in Marin County, California late Monday night, according to the Marin County Sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office reported Afeni Shakur Davis, 69, had passed via their Twitter account at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
According to the sheriff's office deputies responded to Davis' home in Sausalito at 9:34 p.m. on reports of a possible cardiac arrest.
The sheriff's office said she was transported to a hospital where she died at 10:28 p.m.
The sheriff's office will lead an investigation to determine the exact cause and manner of Davis' death.
Davis was born in Lumberton, North Carolina.
No further information has been released at this time.
Her son, Tupac Shakur, was shot several times while leaving a boxing event in Las Vegas in September 1996.
