Deadly crash in Durham
One person was killed in a Durham wreck on Saturday morning

DURHAM (WTVD) -- The Durham Police Department says one person was killed and another person was seriously injured in a three-car accident early Saturday on South Miami Boulevard near East Cornwallis Road.

The accident happened shortly after 1:30 a.m. when police say Shyquan Devonte Davis, 23, of Durham was driving north on South Miami Boulevard at a high speed and lost control of his vehicle.

His car hit a curb on the right side of the road and then crossed into the southbound lanes where it collided with a car driven by Tiffany Nicole Medlin, 26, of Clayton.

The force of the collision sheared Davis' car in half. The front half went across the southbound lanes and struck a car driven by Brandon Lee Warren, 21, of Durham.

After the second collision, the front half of Davis' car continued to spin across the southbound lanes and he was ejected from the vehicle.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. Medlin was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Warren was not injured.

Durham police initially identified the dead driver as Hassan Purdie Anders, but later said they were given the wrong name and Anders was not involved in the accident.
