Pedestrians hit, taken to hospital in Southern Pines

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two pedestrians were struck Saturday morning in Southern Pines.

Authorities said it happened around 10:30 a.m. on Morganton Road near the Armory. The victims, a 70-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman, were taken to Moore Regional according to officials.

Emergency crews responded to the location, which has been the scene of several accidents in recent months.

Officials said there was a fatal accident involving pedestrians in this location a few months ago.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
