Three suspects named in Oxford gas station shootout.

OXFORD (WTVD) -- The Oxford Police Department is investigating a "shootout" at a gas station in the 900 block of NC Highway 96. Three people were taken to hospitals.

It happened about 10:30 a.m.

Three suspects were hospitalized.

One was taken to Maria-Parham Hospital in Henderson. Two others were taken to Granville Medical Center in Oxford.

The three suspects involved are Jerome Bumpass of the 100 block of Carolina Avenue in Oxford, Calvin Barnett of the 3000 block of Watkin Wilkinson Road in Oxford, and Mitron Antonio Terry of the 100 block of Kearney Road in Oxford.

Barnett, who was shot in the leg, was treated at a hospital and later released. Bumpass and Terry are still receiving treatment.

Witnesses said a man pulled up outside the store, came in, and started firing at men inside the store.

"I heard, like, a bunch of pops. And I have bad hearing!" said Kyle Pickard, a store employee. "And the next thing I know, there's cop cars everywhere."

Officers found blood and several shell casings inside the store.

Police said it appears to be an isolated incident and believe that all parties involved have been located and identified.

"It's scary because I was like literally right next to it." Pickard said. "And you never know. You really never know."

The motive for the shooting remains unclear. No one else was injured.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
