Man faces DWI charge after he struck, killed Fayetteville pedestrian

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Police said an impaired driver in Fayetteville hit and killed a man who was walking on Purdue Drive late Wednesday night.

According to investigators, Rafael Rosado, 59, was driving a 2014 Ford south on Purdue Drive between Raeford Road and Village Drive around 11:52 p.m.

Bradley Oxendine, 28, of Gordon Way in Fayetteville, was walking north on Purdue Drive when Rosado hit him. Oxendine was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he died.

Rosado, of Faison Avenue in Fayetteville, is charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, lane violation, revoked license plate, and no insurance.

Purdue Drive was closed for a few hours while police investigated, but the road has since reopened.

Rosado is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
