Sketch released of man who attacked Raleigh woman on her own porch

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Police are trying to track down the man who broke into a Raleigh woman's home Nov. 7.

Raleigh Police Department released a sketch of the suspect in hopes that the public can identify him.

Investigators said the man, who is described as being in his early 20s with long hair, broke into an enclosed porch at a home near Greystone Village Shopping Center.

A 911 caller told police the woman was sitting on her porch enjoying the weather when the man barged in and attacked her.

Once on the porch, the man attempted to pull off her clothes and hit her in the face several times. The victim had blood on her shirt, the 911 caller said.

"She tried to fight them off, but ... she's very upset," the 911 caller said. "She doesn't really want the police called, but I'm trying to ... this is really important that they come."

The woman was able to escape without serious injury.

Cawanua Keeling lives in the same cul-de-sac where the attack happened.

"It's definitely an intrusion in our neighborhood," Keeling said. "You don't expect it. We did not expect it."

Those who live in the area are concerned.

"To think that somebody's coming right up on your own property, that's a little unsettling but just a good reminder to keep your eyes and ears open," said Emily Malpass, who lives nearby.

Another resident who lives nearby agreed.

"It's scary to have things like that when you think you're safe and you're really not safe at all," said Johanna Velez.

And another neighbor, David Peterson, said, "people, I guess, are getting a little more bold and that's not good."
