The teenager was found in Marion, South Carolina, along with his 13-year-old brother, according to the New Bern Police Department. Both were located with Kenneth Lee Brantley Sr., who is now in custody.

Police said the case began around 3:15 a.m., when officers responded to the Palace Motel on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for a reported abduction.

Investigators say two people inside the room reported being awakened by someone knocking at the door. When the door was opened, authorities say Brantley Sr. entered with multiple people, pointed a gun at one of the adults, and took the two boys from the room.

Police said the group left in a black 2012 GMC Yukon Denali XL with a South Carolina license plate.

Authorities issued a BOLO alert and worked with local, state and federal partners to locate the children.
