Apex Police catch multiple-felony suspect after car, foot chase

APEX, N.C. (WTVD) -- A school in Apex had to be put on lockdown as police chased a person wanted on multiple felony charges.

Police said the incident began around noon when officers tried to pull over the suspect's car.

But the driver sped away. A passenger in the vehicle got out of the car near East Williams Street at US Highway 1. That person was not involved, police said, and did not pose any threat to the community.

After a short distance, the driver ditched the vehicle and took off running.

While fleeing, police said the suspect crossed through the grounds of Lufkin Middle School.
