Charges filed in crash that killed Granville teen
CREEDMOOR, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 19-year-old Knightdale man has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle in connection with the crash that killed a Granville County teenager.
A South Granville High School student said Thursday afternoon that classmates are still coping with the death of 16-year-old Emma Wallace, and that having counselors on campus has helped.
Orange cones continue to block parking space number 132, where Wallace was supposed to park this school year at South Granville High School.
She was killed roughly two and a half weeks ago.
Court documents show that Caden Sanders is facing multiple charges.
According to a search warrant, Sanders' Ford Explorer crossed the center line on US15, striking a truck and running it off the road. Police said the Explorer then collided with a Ford Mustang driven by Wallace.
Wallace was known as a talented athlete who played volleyball and softball.
Her father serves as Creedmoor's school resource officer.
A friend told reporters last month that Wallace was a kind person who always cared about others.
Classmate Macarea Christian said the loss has weighed heavily on students.
"It's been a little rough, but got to push it through. I do miss her though. We love Emma," Christian said.
Sanders is facing six citations and is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
