FSU gets major donation for new health and wellness facility

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- It's a new era for health care at Fayetteville State University.

Officials with Cape Fear Valley Health joined Chancellor Darrell Allison on Tuesday to announce they are donating $900,000 to go toward the university's new health and wellness facility that's currently being built on campus.

The 24,000 square foot, two-story wellness center will house a fully licensed pharmacy, physician services, and a state-of-the-art gym. Cape Fear Valley Health's CEO tells ABC11 this facility will be an investment in the students and staff as well as FSU's future.

"Wellness is important to start as a young person. It needs to be integrated into your daily life. Wellness should not be an afterthought. Actually, having a wellness center on the campus demonstrates that. And as you heard, pharmacy services, physician services, and obviously the gym will be a huge boom to this school," said Mike Nagowski.

The $12 million center is set to open in March 2026.
