Durham man accused of trafficking fentanyl and starting chase

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Durham man is facing charges for allegedly trafficking fentanyl and leading deputies on a chase.

According to Durham County Sheriff's Office, 28-year-old Jerrad Alexander McPherson, was arrested last night after deputies tried to pull him over and he led them on a chase tossing things out of his car window.

He eventually stopped and was taken into custody.

Deputies recovered the items thrown from the car, that included a stolen gun and a small amount of cocaine.

As part of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for McPherson's home where a kilo of fentanyl was found, according to DCSO.

He is on federal probation and was booked into Durham County Jail.

McPherson is being held on a $2.5 million bond for the charges including possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine and trafficking of opium or fentanyl.
