Juvenile arrested after man shot at Southern Pines apartment complex, police say

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 20-year-old man was wounded in a shooting Saturday at the Brookside Park Apartments, according to the Southern Pines Police Department.

Officers responded to the complex following a report of a person being shot. When they arrived, they found the victim with a single gunshot wound to his right shoulder, police said.

Investigators recovered several spent shell casings and a spent projectile at the scene. Police said their investigation quickly identified a suspect, who was found inside an apartment in the complex.

The suspect, described by police as a juvenile offender, was taken into custody without incident.

Authorities said there is no known ongoing threat to the community.
