RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- There will be more chances to witness all the action at Lenovo Center as the venue prepares to add more seating.
The Centennial Authority, which oversees Lenovo Center, just approved a $4.1 million project to add between 600 and 800 seats.
The additional seats depend on the event going on in the space.
Staffers from the Centennial Authority told ABC11 that there will be about 700 more seats for hockey games and about 663 more seats for basketball games. There will be roughly 794 more seats for other event types once the project is finished.
Construction is expected to start on or about July 1 and is expected to wrap up just in time for the start of the 2026 hockey season in the fall.
According to Lenovo Center's data, studies have shown the arena's economic impact to be greater than $200 million a year.
