Suspects in attempted Raleigh traffic stop where shot fired in custody

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two men wanted after a driver fled an attempted traffic stop on Tuesday are now in custody, Raleigh Police said Thursday.

Norvell Young, 19, and Jose Collado, 21, were apprehended with the help of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The two were wanted since officers attempted to stop a car Tuesday afternoon near New Bern Avenue and Corporation Parkway.

As officers approached the car, an armed passenger jumped out, dropped a weapon and ran. The gun went off, firing a single shot.

The driver of the car, who police said was Young, then backed up and sped away.

The armed passenger was later identified as Collado.

Young was charged with felony flee to elude arrest. Collado was charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction, possession of a firearm by a felon, and resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer

No one was hurt.
