Fayetteville teen charged with murder in stabbing death of mother

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A teen has been charged in the stabbing death of his mother, Fayetteville Police said Wednesday.

Officers responded Tuesday night to a home in the 1900 block of Daphne Circle near Bingham Drive shortly after 7 p.m.

They found a woman suffering from stab wounds. She died there from her injuries.

Police said Monday that a person was detained at the scene.

On Tuesday, police announced that 17-year-old Isaac Tracy had been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of his mother, Katharine Svaldi, 49.

Both mother and son lived at the home, police said.

Tracy is being charged as an adult and was being held without bond.
