City leaders approved the changes after more than 12,000 residents demanded safety improvements on Clark Avenue.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The City of Raleigh will add new stop signs at three intersections on Clark Avenue near N.C. State University.
That includes the Pogue Street intersection, where a professor was hit and killed in a crosswalk last year.
On Tuesday, the City Council approved the new signs, which are set to go up within the next week.
The stop signs will create a four-way stop at Pogue, Horne and Chamberlain streets.
The changes come after the community urged the city to improve safety on Clark Avenue. More than 12,000 people signed a petition claiming the death of N.C. State professor Natalia Duque-Wilckens was the result of "known and unaddressed safety failures."
The 41-year-old died in November after she was hit in the crosswalk.
Jack Etheridge, 19, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to yield.
