RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Raleigh's housing market is seeing one of the biggest slowdowns in the country, ranking third nationwide for the largest increase in days on market, according to a new report from RE/MAX.
Homes in the Raleigh area averaged 68 days on the market, the report found -- a jump of more than 30% compared to last year. RE/MAX also reported that home sales dipped 3.7% year over year, while prices continued to climb, rising 2%.
Keller Williams Realtor Erica Sizemore said the cooling trend lingered through the winter months. One of her listings recently went under contract after being placed on the market twice since August.
"The weather certainly impacted us in January and February," Sizemore said. "(Now) we're seeing more activity; things are popping off a little quicker, especially in parts of the market that haven't had as much inventory. The homes that are on and selling quick, in some cases, are in those neighborhoods."
Sizemore said buyer activity has picked up with the arrival of spring, and some homes are again attracting multiple offers depending on price and location.
