CONETOE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities are investigating after skeletal remains were discovered Tuesday along U.S. 64 Alternate just outside the town of Conetoe, officials said.
Deputies have released no additional information about the remains or how long they may have been at the site.
The discovery comes only weeks after investigators found a body in a wooded area not far from the current crime scene. Earlier this month, authorities identified those remains as belonging to Kenneth Earl Wooten of Pinetops and determined he had been killed.
It is unclear whether the two cases are connected. Edgecombe County authorities have not yet responded to questions about any potential link.
