DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- For eight months, Durham resident Vernon Allen was promised flight credits from American Airlines.
Allen said the credits happened after he canceled part of a European trip with his wife.
"I spoke with an agent the day I canceled it. He said, "Yeah, no problem. You cancel it, you'll get the travel credit,' and it just never showed up for eight months," Allen said.
He said that during those eight months, he made multiple calls and sent emails, but said he kept hitting dead ends.
"When you do connections from a European origination, then they can't tell you the value of it. So it's like, where do I stand? And they're like, OK, well, we'll have someone look at it and call you back. Multiple emails, calls, and no one ever resolved it for us," Allen said.
Frustrated, Allen reached out to Troubleshooter Diane Wilson. Shortly after, things changed.
"You reached out to them, and it's like magic. They called me back," Allen told the Troubleshooter.
Not long after, Allen finally received confirmation that his airline credit had been issued for him and his wife.
"It was, you know, $1,300 value of flying credit. So, I couldn't afford to just walk away from that. I definitely wanted to capitalize on using my full value of whatever the credit was worth," he said.
American Airlines worked directly with Allen to resolve the issue.
