RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Wake County mother charged in connection with the death of her 12-year-old son made her first court appearance on Monday.
Holly Wren has been indicted on charges of second-degree murder and felony child abuse.
Prosecutors say Wren failed to get medical treatment for her son's untreated diabetes, describing the omission as grossly negligent.

Prosecutors also said the inaction resulted in the child's death in March 2025.
On Monday, Wren was appointed a public defender. She is being held without bond.
