Embezzlement charges against fmr. Princeville mayor dismissed

PRINCEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Investigators say new information has come to light that has prompted the dismissal of embezzlement charges against former Princeville mayor Priscilla Everette-Oates.

Everette-Oats was arrested by the SBI in 2013 after state auditors accused her of misusing a town credit card.

"In light of the new information, prosecutors have determined that the criminal prosecution of Ms. Everette-Oates is not in the interest of justice," prosecutors said in a statement.
