Man charged in wild Hoke County purse snatching
RED SPRINGS, NC (WTVD) -- The Hoke County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man who allegedly cut a woman off with his minivan - forcing her to stop - then reached into her car and grabbed her purse before slashing one of her tires.
Deputies said it happened May 4 along Balfour Road between Raeford and Red Springs.
After slashing the woman's tire, 32-year-old Meko Terrell Lockee fled in the minivan. Deputies say he then began using the woman's credit and debit cards to make fraudulent purchases over the next few hours.
The next day, the Red Springs Police Department spotted the minivan and gave chase. The driver lost control and some of the victim's property was found in the vehicle.
Lockee, of Shannon, NC, was arrested and charged Wednesday with larceny and financial transaction card theft.
